Totarabank consists of eight individual titles for building sections (ranging in size from 1200m² to 2100m²(½ an acre), with a large area of 6.043Ha (nearly 15 acres) held in common ownership, that is, in undivided shares owned equally by the owners of the eight sections or lots.
Each lot is designed to give access to the open area of common ground. Landscaping and planting are used to increase privacy between houses, but still allow access to the views and the open spaces in the development. A cottage is owned by the community and is currently rented. There is a large 'village green' area, extensive walking tracks, ponds, olive grove, orchard, grazing paddocks and direct access to the Ruamahanga River.
Totarabank is a short drive (7km) from both Masterton and Gladstone. Wellington is a one and a half hour drive from Totarabank, and there is a regular train service from Masterton-Wellington. A drive of about one hour fifteen minutes will take you from Totarabank to Palmerston North.
